Cluster Work
As mentioned in the previous post, we have been busy working on getting the book of Luke into our hearts. I cannot say that I have learned the whole book off yet, but that eventual goal is still my aim.
Meanwhile, we have had some challenges getting ready for the big gathering on the YWAM (Youth With A Mission) base here in town.
Apart from the in-depth immersion our OBT (Oral Bible Translation) team has had in Luke’s Gospel, we are also preparing to receive (hopefully) eight translators from each of four different language groups that have little to no portion of the Bible in their mother tongue.
Our OBT team is split into four and each group is going to work on a particular section of Luke with each of the four language group translators, and in nine weeks the aim is to have a final draft of that Gospel recorded in four different languages.
Of course, hosting anything up to 40 people for nine weeks on the base property, with three meals a day served up and recording and computing equipment needed for each language group to be able to work is a mammoth challenge economically.
We want to get two of these “cluster group” events happening before the end of the year, and for that to happen we are trusting all blockages to the OBT efforts will be removed and all will be in hand by the time we need to start with the first ‘groups’ event (towards the end of this month).
Expectantly our team of seventeen people are focussed on doing our part to be ready for the task before us.
