Jesus Heals Today
A long time ago, when I was beginning to step out in faith to see the LORD work healing miracles in people’s lives, I remember watching people being prayed for about legs that were of uneven length. I saw legs lengthen before my eyes and thought to myself, I believe God could do that! I started praying for some people with back pain because of leg length issues and the LORD healed several people as we went on outreaches here and there.
Today my wife and I were delighted to have some Irish folk, working with the mission here, come and join us for a good old hooley. Apart from having an absolutely raucous time—quite typical of many Irish gatherings—we got into some God stories and how He provides and heals.
Discussing the story of my Dad’s healing and how his legs had been brought into correct alignment through prayer, one of our visitors requested prayer for one leg that was shorter than the other, affecting them with some pain.
As my wife held the two legs up in her hands, I could see the right leg was shorter than the other. We thanked the LORD for bringing them to the same length and I thought I saw the leg moving a little. When I asked, the one prayed for said they had felt something. We continued to minister for a moment or two more and I could clearly see the two legs were now of equal length.
The other person present is actually a surgeon by profession and I was delighted to be told how to check leg length the way doctors do it. As the surgeon lifted the legs that way they too could see that the legs were now of equal length.
It was a lovely prayer time, and we also prayed for other things, and then later, when we told another person in the mission base (where we are currently lodged) they too wanted prayer.
The LORD told me before this trip that I needed to “be strong and very courageous”, and to be honest, I felt a little bit of hesitation when asked to pray, but I remembered the exhortation and stepped out anyway, and the LORD met us all in healing and also with His beautiful presence.
