What’s with All the Blond Hair?

At first I thought it was dye or some kind of hair colouring.

As I was trying to figure out why so many dark-skinned people in New Ireland and East New Britain provinces of PNG had blond hair, I even was thinking that maybe, like the phenomenon I met once in the remote mountains of the Dominican Republic, was it maybe a result of malnutrition?

But no! I have been told by numerous people from here that the hair colour is totally natural. It is a very common sight throughout these islands.

And, because I believe this place is rather like Narnia (where if you stick a piece of metal into the ground it will grow a lamppost!), they can grow anything and have a very healthy diet (apart from too much of a sugar intake 🙈). The situation is definitely not one of malnutrition.

So, yet again, just like the many unique reflections of the beauty of God’s creation that one sees in this land, we have yet another expression of God’s creativity among the lovely peoples of these islands.
