A Home in Rabaul π
It all started when I was visiting the World War II Japanese Underground Hospital last Saturday.
During the war the Allies were bombing any movement of Japanese above ground here in New Britain and other places in this region. For this reason the Japanese hid and operated in tunnels they dug everywhere so that they could attend to their wounded, safely stores supplies, etc. They were exceptionally resourceful and imaginative and a tour of the various WWII Japanese hideouts in Kokopo in East New Britain is well worth your visit and time.
While visiting this hospital I met a dear woman (museum caretaker with no funding) who was sharing her heart with me and the need for some practical maintenance and a clean up beyond her strength to do. I remembered that I had just heard that a YWAM (Youth With A Mission) outreach team was heading down from YWAM Madang to minister in Rabaul.
Within a short while I was in touch with the team leader to see if they could help this lady and help pave the way with favour for future long-term YWAM missionaries. The team leader invited me round to meet their hostess, living a mere 3 miles from where I was lodged at the time.
That meeting happened yesterday and I was amazed to discover that the hostess had a strong missions vision and even had land on her property where she was wanting YWAM to build the lodging they need to live and minister here.
Now, my burden from the LORD at the moment has been to find contacts and ministry opportunities for the ones called and commissioned in last monthβs national (YWAM PNG) conference, and have heard the LORD to come to these islands and even, in some cases, right here to the Rabaul area.
And now we have this dear servant of God wanting to give a large parcel of land to YWAM to build a ministry centre and accommodation.
Praise the LORD. YWAM has a home in the making for their ministry to launch in East New Britain, PNG!
