When Jesus Comes to the Red Light District

It used to be a strip club.

Chomno Coffee House is in the heart of Phnom Penh’s “Red Light District”.

A year ago Iris Phnom Penh obtained the place and transformed it into a coffee house, which now serves the same area.

You see the difference in the pictures of “the before and after” above and below with the poles and red paint gone and comfortable chairs and pleasant furniture placed in a beautifully decorated setting.

And what I love is that the coffee house is staffed by people ministering in the district and by once-trafficked girls who are now trainee baristas and learning all about the hospitality service.

This ministry is now a beacon of the light and love of Jesus and representing the Kingdom in a needy place down by the Mekong River in Cambodia’s capital city.
