Tuk-tuk Derby

One of the creative ways that our hosts here in Phnom Penh have dealt a double blow to helping team bonding and also satisfying the tourism craving (both at the same time) has been the invention of a game.

Cleverly named “Amazing Race” it consists of dividing the visiting team into teams of four (maximum) and giving them a tuk-tuk driver and vehicle (see picture above). The tuk-tuk then follows a journey round the main city central area as led by riddles on a sheet of paper.

Temples, the royal palace, monuments and other “sites” are visited at speed, with each tuk-tuk team required to send in photographs of team selfies at the various locations to a WhatsApp group so the “game master” can see, verify and award points.

At the of the journey, which must be accomplished with the team returning to ‘base’ in under two hours, everyone gathers to hear who won the race, being first back with the best pictures taken and sent in of sites and specific cultural quirks and with all places visited, proven by the photographs.

A great way to begin the time here and also a fun way to lay the foundation for the next days of ministry in the city.
