Alone

A small group of three from our team were out visiting people in a very poor neighbourhood in Phnom Penh at the start of this week.

As we rounded the corner we were drawn to a saintly face with a big smile that belied her eighty-two years as she was sitting at a big table with four small bags of food she was hoping to sell to pay the bills.

We all knew that the LORD had something for us with this woman. Through translation we befriended her and one of our group shared a prophetic word with her that melted her heart. Amidst a flood of tears she began to share how her husband had been invited by some of Pol Pot’s cadres to improve his education. The man left for his further studies and was never seen again.

She also had two sons who were forced to join the Khmer Rouge and they were brutally killed shortly thereafter. Her other son, who was ill, was denied medicine by Pol Pot’s men and died also.

Alone for forty-eight years she ekes out a living earning a mere pittance for the food she is able to prepare for sale.

We were moved with compassion about her situation, but felt we needed to tie the prophetic word in with the relationship our Heavenly Father was seeking with her. We told her that He wanted to be invited into her life. I asked her if she would like to invite Him and she said, “Yes”, after which I led her in prayer as she made Jesus Saviour and LORD of her life..

We promised to get her an audio Bible, and yesterday, I was given two audio Bibles, one of which we managed to get to her, even though we did not have her address nor see her in her normal place.

It was beautiful that we who prayed with her were able to return with the Bible so soon and personally walk her through and see her work the player easily with her fingers.
