The Wicklow Way

Well, if one thing became clear, while my wife and I were clambering up and down high mountainous rocky paths in the past couple of weeks during our “island” visit, including a killer climb up and down one mountain of several thousand feet in the heat of the day, I really need to do some more walking!

And that leads us to the next big(gish) event on the cards: The Wicklow Way.

Wicklow is one of the 32 counties on the island of Ireland and is situated on the east coast, just below Dublin. It has some of the most spectacular scenery and the Wicklow Way is renowned to be Ireland’s best hiking trail. The trail is approximately 130 km (81 miles) long and will be a warm-up for the BIG ONE in January: Walking the Cook Islands. More on that one later.

So why walking? Well, in truth, I have already answered that question here in a previous (brief) blog post. The summary reason is that I feel the LORD wants me to declare His Glory, wonderful works and the Good News of Jesus in the nations and to do it walking alongside the people of the nations as I go.

Even on this “Wicklow Walk” I hope to have some people walking with me, with whom I can pray for Ireland, enter deep fellowship, share Bible stories and testimonies and minister to people we meet along the way (on the walk or in lodgings along the way).

If you would like to keep up with us on the walk (and I hope to post something daily as often as possible as we walk the trail), please click the blog subscribe button on the main blog page.

And if you or anyone you know would like to join me on this walk, and you also walk with God and passionately love Jesus, please connect with me here for more details via this page.

The walk begins in the south of Dublin on 16th November and will run for seven our eight days. Come for all or some of the time, but make contact with me first, please.
