Eight Days

Eight days to go before we leave.

Packing is usually the easy part, or it should be. This time, however, due to the remote and ‘different’ nature of the destination we have more of a challenge. One tiny waterproof backpack for the whole trip … and so “efficient, lightweight and minimal” is the order of the day. Whatever goes in that bag has to earn its place and be carried wherever we go.

Although not what this trip is about, it is nevertheless an unwelcome hill we need to cross: a screen in front of me with mountains of email to process through, making sure every document is gathered, checked and put in order, ready to show on our journey to the relevant authorities.

In my last post I wrote of the mountain the LORD called me to 47 years ago this month. This is now that scouting trip. We are trusting the LORD to find a “man of peace”, and to understand what the LORD is saying about future work there.

Eight days. The emails will get answered, the documents will be in order, and the bag will close. And then we go, listening and obeying, as we know the LORD has already gone before.
