The Way the Wind Blows
The sign we saw in one of the conference rooms this week just sums it all up for us:
“God is the only One who can make the valley of trouble a door of Hope!”
Many people in valleys of trouble have passed through this haven of medical solutions and loving support over the past 20+ years. A lot of Hope4Cancer patients who come to this clinic, or the one in Tijuana, have been previously given earth-shattering news about cancer and many have only an expectation of not only a low quality of life, but also promise of a soon or imminent demise.
Met at the door by clinic staff with hugs and gentle encouragement, many of these patients begin within moments to receive the effects of the hope that imbues everything at Hope4Cancer clinics.
Only this week I met a man who has had his body buffeted and cut in so many places by doctors trying to eliminate his cancer for more than two years. He told me that in just two days in the clinic in Cancun he has received so much support and hope that he is already feeling better than he has done for years.
Maybe it is not only the hugs and tender loving words. How many of us have had highly skilled doctors hunker down beside us to hear the story of our illness, and who take time to patiently explain every recommended treatment, while at the same time painstakingly answer all our questions?
Not only are Hope4Cancer staff seeking to treat the whole person with the cancer (rather than just the cancer in a person), but, as they state on their web site, Hope4Cancer staff seek to restore hope and health to the whole person - spirit, soul and body.
Jesus is front and centre in the core values of the clinic's seven principles of healing, and He is proclaimed clearly and frequently by the centre’s founder, Dr. Antonio Jiménez (or “Dr. Tony” as we all soon came to know him).
Offering treatments and therapies that are non-toxic, doctors meet daily to discuss progress of each patient and how they can holistically meet the needs of those in their care for that day. Deep and wonderful discussions with skilled staff also explore emotional and spiritual roots as to where the cancer might have had occasion to feed and grow or even to appear in the first place.
This was my journey and experience back in March, when I was first diagnosed with a serious melanoma on my left leg. At first I turned up at the clinic unsure and uncertain (like a scared child) about what I had signed up for during those three initial weeks of 200+ treatments and therapies, but with patience and careful attention the nursing staff helped me relax and to realise a hopeful healing journey upon which I had embarked.
Three months later in July, I was back at Hope4Cancer for a follow up visit of two days and discovered that all the hard work and home treatments had meantime paid off, and significant progress had been made in my health.
This past week, I was back again for my six month visit, and, amidst all the rain, storms and even a hurricane coming through, the winds of healing were also blowing, and an almost clean bill of health was handed to me by my doctor on Tuesday.
For anyone who has been diagnosed with cancer, I would encourage you to check out the Hope4Cancer web site and request a free telephone consultation with an experienced doctor to see if treatments in Cancun or Tijuana might be just what will boost your journey to healing. With the staff in the clinic you will find not only skilled medical personnel, but also a sweet family.
