Divine Appointments
It was like I was looking at ourselves 35 years ago.
European boy meets a Caribbean Spanish-speaking girl in YWAM (Youth With a Mission). They fall in love. Married in the past two weeks; fresh off their honeymoon. Now they are preparing for a life of ministry together.
As I told them story after story of God’s faithfulness to us, and gave them practical pointers on how to process life together as cross-cultural ‘marrieds’, how to follow biblical patterns of bringing up children and trusting one another while growing together in the LORD. They were like sponges and only the lateness of the hour stopped the conversation!
These past couple of weeks we have been blessed to have several divinely appointed ‘moments’ of being able to share with hungry people (‘in Christ’ and among the unsaved), and latterly with the youth here in YWAM Ships Kona. There have been occasions to share those God-stories, some Bible stories and also to give input into strategies being explored for ministry to non-readers.
We landed in “The Big Island” (confusingly called “Hawai’i) of the Hawaiian chain of islands on 3rd April and transferred to the island of Kauai the next morning on the first of three free (taxes only) flights we have made thus far between these very different isles in the middle of the Pacific.
Now we are waiting for word on when we can proceed on down to join the work going on in PNG. Hopefully, soon.
