Home Base to the Nations
We have moved!
Since the last day of August we have been in a new place, and by the middle of last week we were unpacked, sorted and settled. The whole move was smooth and fast — and after as many moves as we have made in the past number of years, that is not something we take for granted. Thank-you, Jesus!
The house is compact. And that is not a complaint by any means; it is the point. It is easy to manage, easy to keep clean, and it does not ask much of us — which matters a great deal when we are away for weeks (sometimes, months) at a time.
And it is under five minutes' walk to church. Five minutes, on foot. For a long season we were driving an hour and a half, and more, in each direction to be with our church family. If you have never done that, it is hard to explain what it does to a week. To be able to walk there, and walk home again, still feels like a gift every time we do it.
Just along from us there is a play park, and a walking route that runs back towards the woods. We cannot wait to get the grandchildren down here and show them their new play zone — free of charge, and a great deal better than anything we could have built them.
So … “not quite homeless”? Yes, in part. The house is not ours. It has been lent to us, very kindly and open-ended, as a base (while in the U.K.) for our work in the nations. Next month we travel for a couple of weeks. After Christmas we expect to be away longer. This is a place to come back to, and to go out from. We are deeply grateful for it, both to the owners and to the LORD.
There is more to say about why all of this has come now. That is for another day.
