Made New

As we continue to think about intimacy with God, I was really struck, in my meditation before the LORD this morning, how He has made all things new for me. I am a new creation.

When I came to Him, heavy with the weight and trap of sin that would seek to destroy me, I saw myself in a hole with a tight opening and I was unable to get out on my own - a picture of the bondage and condition of sin. When I cried out to Him to deliver me, I suddenly saw a picture of a remarkable, tender and intimate transformation …

I saw myself standing (in a white robe as a picture of complete cleansing!) beside the LORD, who had me look back to where the hole had been.

Firstly, I was no longer in the hole, and secondly, I was free. Thirdly, I was so aware of my being freshly cleansed and sharpened in my relationship with the LORD who was standing right there beside me in my picture. The word ‘pure’ came to mind.

I did not see how He got me out of the hole. One minute I was trapped in the hole and next I saw myself standing close by His side and, as I looked back - the reality that struck me most in this picture - I saw the place where the hole was and it was closed over. The fact it was covered (by the power of His blood) was what amazed me most, next to the fact He was right there beside me.

Then I heard His words: “Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God”.

What a privilege we have in the LORD: intimacy of relationship with pure, forgiven hearts! Intimacy with God starts with the work of Jesus on the cross and next with our heart forgiven, made pure. And then, suddenly, we can see. Wow!
