Back to Monterrey

We left off the story (last time) in Cancun, with the announcement that the hotel, where we were lodged, had been commanded by the government to shut down.

Next we heard that the treatment centre was also being shut down by the government - also for reasons of the virus - on Saturday (the day after we were to leave the hotel). Hope4Cancer kindly negotiated a lodging transfer arrangement for us to another hotel that was still open.

As we were just settled into our new room in the new hotel, after experiencing a lovely opportunity to tell a Bible story to the clinic staff, we got a phone call from Reception telling us that the government had shut them down too and we needed to move to another hotel two days later, one that they would arrange for us near the airport.

Our heads were all a-whirl with all this news and these changes, but inwardly we were calling out to the LORD for His plan to override that of man. What did He want in all this?

It was at this moment we discovered that our flight out on the Tuesday (14th), back to Monterrey, had been cancelled. As I rang the airline to see what they would do for us, we managed to secure a flight out (free of all charges) on the Sunday (12th April), the day we were to move out of the second hotel! So, in the end, we headed back to Monterrey straight from that hotel without having to move to another one.

A little update on the leg. As we finished our time for the first treatment period in Hope4Cancer, I was told by the doctor that all the tests they had done were showing the same overall very good health, but that the mole on my leg had reduced in size and was a more natural colour. This was great news and a boost as I got back to Monterrey and looked, slightly overwhelmed, at the mountain of gear I had to organise and sort for my 90 days of “Home Treatment Plan”!

At the end of this first week back, we nearly have everything in place that we need for the full home treatment, and I am now following a daily list of what to take and what to do and when for each part of the day. The story continues.
